Parker and Arrol was founded in 1998; it is a partnership between Meg Arrol (néeParker) and Winifrid Bradley (née Arrol).
Meg trained at the West of England College of Art, Bristol and ran ‘Meg Arrol handpainted silks’ from 1984 - 98.
Winifrid completed a BA in printed textiles at John Moores University, Liverpool followed by an MA at Manchester Metropolitan University.
Our strengths lie in our ability to draw and as colourists. We enjoy the variations that occur during handpainting; it's what makes each piece individual and enhances its charm.
We handpaint so that we can produce one-off designs economically without the constraints of setting up a print run.
We can match colours and designs but clients should be aware that each piece will vary due to the nature of handpainting.
On commissioning we work closely with the client, producing preliminary sketches. When those are approved we produce illustrations and fabric samples showing the completed work, and only once this is approved do we make the finished piece.
There will be a cost for visits, drawings and samples. However, if the design goes ahead these will be incorporated in the final fee. The cost is affected by the amount of detail not just the size and colour.
